Life update: Back to Uni & placement searches!

Life update: Back to Uni & placement searches!

As this blog is called ‘Life of a PR student’ I thought I should update you lovely readers on my life!

So, summer is over πŸ™ I can happily say that this summer has been the best so far. I’ve achieved more than I could have imagined and it was a nice way to unwind after a crazy year. But for now, it’s time for me to head back to books and lots and lots of work. It’s back to uni time.

Second year calls for double the work and placement searches! My degree is a sandwich course which means that I spend my third year working in industry for a year. This means that I need to find an agency or company who will take me on for 30 weeks! I know I am really interested in Consumer PR and I want to be in London so who knows where I will end up! Even though I want to be in London I need to apply for ones at home, just incase! I’ve got my eye on a few agencies already so I am in the process of contacting them. I’m desperate to get a placement that I really want so I am looking and applying early! I’m not going to get my hopes up too early, somebody in the year above said they filled out 30 applications..!

I’ve moved into a house this time, not in halls any more! It’s a really weird feeling being in a house with just three others though….I miss the excitement of halls! I’ve tried to make my room as homely as possible – I’m making the most of having extra room this year. I will do a Uni room tour another time so keep an eye out!

This semester I’m learning about Digital Communications, Media Management and Creativity within PR. I’m really looking forward to Digital Communications as from my social media post, you can tell it’s a real interest of mine.

I’m also going to be changing my blog around over the next few weeks. Starting this blog was a really big thing for me and I never expected it to get past 10 posts that people actually want to read. However, I’ve had such a positive response to it. Almost 1,300 views and especially over the last week I have had the nicest compliments on Twitter and in Uni about it. I’m really going to focus on writing more about uni life as that is what people are enjoying, whilst writing a bit more about PR too. PR and the media are what I’m interested in and I will try to make it interesting for you all too, so bear with me if one week it’s not the kind of post you normally read. I love taking pictures too so I want to bring that into this blog! I’ve got quite a few posts planned that I am really excited to share and I hope you all enjoy them! A big thank you to everyone who reads this, there is nothing nicer than seeing growing stats and knowing people are actually reading what I write! If ever you want me to write about anything in particular then contact me via the blog, tweet me etc – you guys know what to do!

I normally post on Sunday’s now but as this isn’t a ‘proper’ post, I will upload another one mid next week for you lovely lot. But for now, it’s time for me to go back to my placement applications – fingers crossed! Thank you for reading and here’s to growing this blog!

Nice one πŸ™‚ your blog has brought me to wondering why people are encouraged to live out of student accommodation after the first year? People tend to thrive in the company of others and the excitement that you describe is a very important thing (If you can limit the amount of parties) it allows us to interact with others that we wouldn’t normally come into contact with on a daily basis. This is a usually a good thing although we all need some peace & ‘down time’ too! πŸ™‚

Nice writing Lucy, keep it up πŸ™‚

I do kind of wish that there were accomodation buildings, just like halls for those in second or third year! Halls are a great way to socialize with everyone and it just seems weird being in a house. Maybe it’s to encourage us to finally be ‘adults’….. haha who knows! Thank you!! I’m glad you enjoy my posts πŸ™‚
