#ThursdayThought on using Social Media and Influencers in PR with Satyen Dayal

I was so excited when Satyen Dayal agreed to take part in my #ThursdayThought series. Satyen is a Senior Director at Edelman, London. He studied on the BA Public Relations programme at Bournemouth University before heading into the PR industry. He now holds over 15 years experience in the industry, working in the tech space whilst aiming to ‘champion digital transformation’. This week, the topic of my mind was social media and influencers in PR. Social Media is continuing to grow and I was intrigued to find out what Satyen thought this meant for PR’s future. Myths of PR – the new must-read for PR students

As I’ve mentioned before, studying a PR degree is ‘one of those degrees’. It’s one of those degrees in which you set yourself up for four years of people asking you what exactly it is you study. If a minor miracle happens and people do know what PR is, the unfortunate likelihood is, most of them will have the wrong idea. So you can imagine why, after this, I was incredibly happy to be able to get a copy of the incredible new book, Myths of PR  by none other than Rich Leigh. This is a post on my new found…

#ThursdayThought on the highs and lows of PR with Mr PR / Rich Leigh

This week’s #ThursdayThought is with none other than Mr PR himself (no, seriously). Mr PR (also known as Rich Leigh) founded his own agency, Radioactive PR when he was just 27. This week, I was really intrigued to find out what Rich thought the highs and lows of PR were. I am only…

Our parents always think that we have paid attention to their cooking tips, but in reality who knows what will happen when you are left to your own devices. We’ve all stood there staring into mid-air thinking about our plans tomorrow whilst muttering ‘yes Mum I know how to cook this’. I mean who even has time to cook a full on meal..?? University is an experience which brings together people from up and down the country. But nothing is more fascinating than seeing a range…

#ThursdayThought on fake news in PR with Francis Ingham

I was lucky enough to interview Francis Ingham for this week’s #ThursdayThought. Francis is the Director General of the PRCA (Public Relations and Communications Association) and the Chief Executive of the ICCO (International Communications Consultancy Organisation). He went to Oxford University, gaining a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics followed by a politics background before PR.  The topic on my mind this week and the one I sent to Francis was fake news. There has been a lot of speculation around this recently so who better to quiz than someone like Francis?! LE: Why is fake news generated?  Francis: Fake news is…
