Week 3 – the next chapter

Week 3 – the next chapter

Wow. Three weeks is over – I can’t actually believe how fast that has gone. I really don’t want this whole experience to end – I can’t put it into words how amazing my time at Frank has been.

This week started off with a meeting with my mentor. I was a bit worried about it, just incase she had bad news or something! But I was so wrong! Firstly, my mentor is one of the loveliest people you will ever meet. Since I started three weeks ago, she’s essentially taken me ‘under her wing’ and helped me so much. It wasn’t a formal ‘meeting’ we just grabbed some coffee and talked for a bit. She gave me such lovely compliments and I am still really touched by what she said. Like I said in my last post, it is so nice to know you are doing a good job, especially considering how nervous I was at the start. She said that they are really going to miss me and they want me to come back which is amazing and more than I could’ve wanted her to say. This little chat really boosted my confidence for this week, just knowing that little old me has actually impressed them and they like me enough to want me to stay. Finally, it was so nice to sit down with her and have a chat just us two, away from the office!

I spent my final week researching, finding more influencers, outreaching to influencers, following up from last week’s sell in’s, making media lists, covering reception and more. My favourite part of this week has to be going to a film set. They could have chosen anyone from the team or the other person on work experience so I was really lucky to go. The best thing about it was being able to see how that kind of thing worked and represent Frank in a filming situation. Spending time with my mentor and team leader out of the office was really nice too – like I’ve already said they are so so lovely! I can’t wait to see the photos and video and to be able to say that I was there.┬áThere wasn’t really a downside to the day, but you do have to laugh about the fact that my taxi mis-calculated my journey time by an hour so I arrived at 5:40am instead of 6:40am…..I had to sit in a school car park at 5am and wait for everyone else to arrive….the school caretaker ended up feeling so sorry for me that he let me sit in reception haha.

So all in all, it has been an incredible end to my three weeks here. Due to my long hours, the ‘job’ kind of became my life for three weeks. Having to say goodbye to everyone was really, really sad. The saddest goodbye had to be to my mentor – she gave me the cutest card with the loveliest message inside that actually made me tear up. I am really going to miss working with her and I hope that we stay in touch. To be honest, I will really miss working with everyone at Frank. They are such a lovely, hilarious group of people. I have loved experiencing working life in London – I don’t normally go to London much due to where I live so it’s been a great experience there too.

On my way out, someone said ‘Frank will either make you or break you’ then laughed. She said that Frank is one of the hardest agencies to work for and if you leave with compliments, you’ve done really well. I already know that Frank has given me the most incredible opportunities that I am so grateful for. This placement has made me even more determined that this is where I want to be.

It is so hard to believe that I was considering not taking this placement because I was so nervous. This opportunity only came about because I took an opportunity to go to a conference in Westminster in March and I met someone from the agency there. From that one conference, I have three weeks experience completed and some incredible opportunities further down the line.

However, this amazing opportunity would not have been possible without my insanely supportive friends and family encouraging me to pursue a career doing what I love. Thank you all.

Frank, I will definitely be coming back but for now,

Here’s to the next chapter.
